AirAsia X books US$27.4 million profit for latest quarter

AirAsia X (AAX) has reported a net profit of 121.6 million ringgit (US$27.4 million) for the three months to September 30, more than 20 times higher than the 5.6 million ringgit net profit it booked in the same months in 2023. Read More » Revenue increased 22.6% to 795 million ringgit, AAX said in a regulatory filing and added the result was boosted by a net foreign exchange gain. Full reactivation of the airline’s fleet is nearing completion with the LCC’s final airliner to return to flying in early 2025. “The reactivation journey has been challenging particularly as spare parts scarcity remains a drawn out complication in the industry, but we are nearing the finish line,” AAX CEO, Benyamin Ismail, said. “In addition, we are in the concluding stage of engagement with a lessor for one more aircraft, which will increase our fleet to 19 aircraft by next first half. The company’s network continues to deliver solid performance metrics as passenger load for our most popular routes scaled about 90% even in softer travel seasons,” AAX said.
