Air New Zealand forecast to fly 3 million passengers over end-of-year holidays

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) said it was expecting close to 3 million passengers to fly on its domestic and international networks during the traditional holiday period between mid-December and the end of January. Read More » The Star Alliance member said it expected Friday December 27 to be its busiest day with more than 50,000 passengers scheduled to travel on its flights. The most popular domestic destination outside the main N.Z. cities was Queenstown with about 250,000 travellers booked to fly into and from the South Island tourist hotspot, Air NZ said. Australia was Air NZ's top international destination with about 450,000 customers holding tickets to make the trip across the Tasman. "The holiday season is such a special time when families and friends come together, and we're privileged to play a part in connecting so many people," Air NZ chief operating officer, Alex Marren, said. “Our team works hard, planning for months to make sure everything runs smoothly, especially during our busiest days."
