China Eastern Airlines delivers double-digit passenger growth update reports

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flew 11.2 million passengers last month, a 13.9% increase over the 9.9 million air travellers it carried in October. Read More » CEA’s November international passenger numbers improved 69.4% to 1.5 million, its domestic network reported an increase of 7.3%, to 9.4 million passengers and regional travellers were higher by 20.9% at 449,360. Overall CEA capacity, or available seat kilometres, (ASK), expanded 9.2% year-on-year. The airline built international capacity by 44.5% in the month, regional capacity expanded 1.6% but domestic capacity declined by 1.8% in the 30 days. “In November, the company’s passenger transportation capacity in the domestic market reached 108.4% of the matching weeks in 2019,” CEA said. “The company’s passenger transportation capacity in the international market recovered to 92.5% of the same period in 2019." Passenger load factor was higher by 8 percentage points at 72.7%, it said. CEA welcomed an A320 and a C919 into its operations in the month. No aircraft were withdrawn. The SkyTeam alliance member was operating 796 aircraft at November 30.
