Taipei Taoyuan to deliver record transit passenger traffic in 2024

More than 3.1 million passengers transitted through Taipei’s international airport in the first 11 months of 2024. Read More » Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said transit passengers processed at the airport were only 2% lower than full-year 2023 and were 20% higher than 2019. The increase in transit passengers reflects the shift in the business strategies of Taiwan’s carriers to attracting transit air travellers especially between Southeast Asia and North America via Taiwan. The growth has cushioned the blow of the slow recovery in international travellers to Taipei. To October 31 this year, the numbers were still lower by 36% compared with 2019. Passenger volumes through the airport are forecast to rebound to 2017 numbers by December 31 but will still be 10% lower than in full-year 2019.
