China Southern Airlines reports 20% plus jump in passenger traffic

China Southern Airlines (CSA) recorded a 23.9% year-on-year passenger improvement in fiscal 2024 with international passengers carried delivering the group’s best results of a 93.4% jump in air traffic demand over the previous 12 months. Read More » CSA’s passenger capacity increased 14.7% year-on-year, including an 82.9% expansion on international routes, and passenger load factor was higher by 6.28 percentage points at 84,38% to full-year December 31. CSA flew 164.7 million passengers in 2024, better by 15.9% than 2023. In the reported 31 days, CSA’s passenger traffic grew 10% over the same month a year ago, including a 32.5% increase in international flights. Total passenger capacity increased by 3.3% compared with 2023 and overall passenger load factor improved to 84.55%. The CSA Group introduced three A321neo, two A319neo, one A320neo, one COMAC C909 and one C919) to its operations in December and retired six A319s, one A330-200, an A321 and two Embraer E190s in the month. At the close of the year, CSA’s fleet stood at 917 commercial aircraft.
