Boeing resumes 777-9X flight testing

Boeing's 777-9X test program recommenced late last week. Read More » Aircraft tracking websites show one of the type’s test aircraft, registration N779XY, completing a 5.5 hour test flight from Boeing Field in Washington State. It was the 777-9X program's first test flight since August 2024 when post-flight inspections found a major component in the engine mount had failed. Boeing has said it is working towards certification and first delivery of the much delayed 777-9X in 2026. When the project was launched in 2013, Boeing planned for the 777-9X to enter service in 2020.
