Air Busan tightens rules on portable power bank batteries after cabin fire

Air Busan is forbidding power banks to be stored in overhead lockers, Reuters news agency reports citing a company statement. Read More » The new rules will begin on a trial basis on February 7. Carryon luggage will be inspected at the LCC’s boarding gates with bags approved for overhead locker storage tagged. Power banks must be kept with passengers during flights. The new rules follow a fire last month in an overhead locker of an Air Busan A321 as it prepared to depart Busan for Hong Kong. There were no injuries. The aircraft, registration HL7763, was destroyed.
