China Airlines exceeds one million passenger mark in January

China Airlines (CAL) flew 1,027,372 passengers in January, 9.5% more customers compared 12 months earlier. Read More » The flag carrier increased capacity by 1.7% year-on-year, revenue passenger kilometres for the month were higher by 9.1% against a year ago and passenger load factor grew 5.6 ppt to 76.8%. Operating revenue for the month was TW$16.6 billion (US$505 million), better by 21% over January 2024. Taiwan’s Central News Agency said CAL booked a new monthly high of NT$19.29 billion in consolidated sales in January, up 21.12% from January 2024. Revenue from passenger flights was NT$12.62 billion, 16.93% year-on-year improvement. The carrier entered its peak season in first quarter this year, driven by the winter vacation break and the Lunar New Year holiday. Load factor topped 90% for most of northeast Asia in the 31 days. Separately, China Airlines Cargo launched Taipei-Toronto via Anchorage on February 7. Also, subsidiary Tigerair Taiwan posted NT$1.69 billion in consolidated sales for January, up 31.2% from a year ago. The LCC is scheduled to accept two A320neo in the second half of this year as it upgrades its fleet.
