Hong Kong to raise airport departure tax by 67%

Hong Kong will increase its airport departure tax by 67%, to HK$200 (US$26), from the third quarter of this year. Read More » Hong Kong financial secretary, Paul Chan, announced the rate rise in his 2025 budget speech on February 26. “It is anticipated government revenue will increase by HK$1.6 billion per year [from the increased tax]. The impact on air passengers is expected to be minimal,” Chan said. The higher tax will apply to tickets purchased after October 1.
