India’s carriers start 2025 with 11.3% domestic passenger growth

Airlines across India flew 14.6 million domestic passengers in January compared with 13.1 million air travellers transported in the same month last year. Read More » Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) data shows LCC IndiGo held on to its top spot as the country’s dominant domestic carrier with 9.5 million passengers, or 65.2% of the local market. Runner-up was Air India Group with 3.8 million passengers (25.7% market share) followed by Akasa Air at 687,000 customers (4.7% market share). Akasa Air’s domestic passenger load factor topped the table at 93.7%, followed by IndiGo (89.8%) and SpiceJet (87.1%), DGCA added.
