Korean Air unveils first change in corporate identity since 1984

Korean Air (KAL) has launched its new aircraft livery and corporate logo, its only complete brand revamp in more than four decades. Read More » A KAL 787-10 registration HL8515 was chosen to showcase the new livery and branding at a Seoul Incheon ceremony on March 11. The corporate identity displays KOREAN in dark blue on a light blue fuselage with a metallic paint finish intended to emphasize KAL’s premium brand image, the flag carrier said. The airline’s Taegeuk, (or yin-yang) symbol has been redesigned with a single tone of blue compared with KAL’s previous red and blue palette. To mark the occasion, KAL held a party for 1,000 guests in one of the airline’s maintenance hangars. “With the full integration of Asiana Airlines, our role as Korea’s flagship carrier has grown even more significant,” KAL chair and CEO, Walter Cho, said. “We will bring together our expertise, refine our strengths and unite cultures to create an innovative, unmatched airline experience.”
