SIA Group update reports healthy air travel demand

Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) flew 3.11 million passengers last month, up 1.7% from the 3.06 million customers flown in the same month a year ago. Read More » The airline group - Singapore Airlines and Scoot – said passenger load factor was 0.2 of a percentage point higher at 86.5% and capacity increased 0.2%. At full-service Singapore Airlines, passengers transported in the 28 days increased 4.6% to 2.1 million. In contrast, LCC Scoot recorded a 3.1% drop in air travellers to 1.1 million for the reported period. “Demand for air travel remained healthy in February,” SIA said in a regulatory filing.

In other SIA news, Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand have celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their joint venture partnership on routes between New Zealand and Singapore and more than 50 destinations across Europe, India and Southeast Asia. “The Singapore Airlines commitment to the New Zealand market is reflected in the continuing strength of this decade-long alliance with Air New Zealand, which has delivered significant growth in passenger and cargo services between New Zealand and Singapore,” Singapore Airlines general manager for New Zealand, George Robertson, said.
