China Airlines flew fewer passengers in February compared with a year ago

Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) transported 911,529 passengers last month, 6.2% lower than in the same month in 2024. Read More » Revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) declined 4.9% year-on-year, passenger capacity was reduced by 3.6% and passenger load factor dipped 1.1% to 78.4%. Operating revenue for the 28 days was N$13.5 billion (US$400 million), a 1.3% decline against 12 months ago. The 2025 February results were affected by the high base impact of the Lunar New Year Holiday in late January, traditionally a peak travel period for the region’s carriers. In 2024 the regional holiday was in early February. Regardless, in the first two months of this year, CAL passengers flown increased 1.5% and RPKs were better by 2.2%. Capacity declined 0.9% in the 28 days and overall passenger load factor for the month was 80.5%. Operating revenue booked from last January 1 to February 28 delivered 9.9% year-on-year growth to NT$30.1 billion.
