Cathay Group booked positive air traffic growth in February

Read More » Driven by the return travel peak over the Lunar New Year holiday, Cathay Pacific and HK Express combined set a new post-pandemic record on February 2 when they transported more than 111,000 passengers on a single day,” Cathay Pacific chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said. Cathay Pacific carried 14.3% more passengers in the reported month than a year earlier. Capacity expanded 17% and revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) increased 17.8%. Passenger load factor inched up 0.6% at 82.9%. In the first two months of the year passengers carried by the group’s two airlines increased 25.4% compared with the matching months in 2024. Cathay Cargo flew 11.8% more cargo last month against February 2024. Available Freight Tonne Kilometres increased 3.5%, load factor dropped 1.4% year-on- year, but total tonnage was up 12.8% year-on-year. HK Express transported more than 585,000 passengers in February, marking an increase of 32% year-on-year. Capacity grew by 38% and RPK by 28.6%. Passenger load factor declined 5.9% to 79.9%. In the first two months of the year passengers flown by the LCC increased 39.1% compared with January and February in 2024.
