Hong Kong bans use of power banks inflight

Read More » Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department (CAD) said passengers could carry power banks on board but they could not store them in overhead lockers. The new rules will apply from April 7. Hong Kong’s largest airline, Cathay Pacific, said overnight it acknowledged the latest direction from the CAD in relation to the carriage of lithium power banks aboard flights. “We recognise the importance of continuous improvement in aviation safety and support measures to reduce risks associated with the use of lithium battery-powered devices. Cathay will fully comply with the regulations,” the airline said.
