Skytrans takes over Sydney-Lord Howe Island from Qantas Airways

Skytrans commenced flying to Lord Howe Island 500 miles off Australia’s east coast on April 8, a route previously operated by Qantas Airways. Read More » The Australian regional carrier flew Dash 8-Q200s on two return services between Sydney and Lord Howe Island on its first day of operations. “More than proud of the Skytrans team that delivered our first day of Lord Howe Island operations yesterday,” Skytrans CEO, Alan Milne, wrote on LinkedIn “Four sectors flown and four on-time departures.” The New South Wales government awarded Skytrans the licence for the route last year. At the same time, Qantas announced the retirement of its 36-seat Dash 8-Q200 fleet that had served the island from Sydney. Qantas has its QF airline code on the Skytrans flights.
