Australia’s international air travellers increased 14.8% in January

There were 4.4 million international airline passengers flying into and out of Australia in January, an increase of 14.8% from 3.8 million in the same month in 2024. Read More » The monthly report from Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said Qantas Group’s Qantas Airways led the market with a 15.6% share of all passengers, down from 16.2% a year earlier. The other Qantas Group airline, Jetstar Airways, was second with a 12.6% share, up 1.8 percentage points from January 2024. Singapore Airlines was Australia’s largest foreign carrier in the 31 days at 8.2%, followed by Air New Zealand (6.4%) and Emirates Airline (6%). SIA topped the table for international freight for the month with a 14.2% market share, ahead of Qantas (8.6%) and Cathay Pacific (8.4%).
