Three Asia-Pacific airports ranked in top 10 for passengers in 2024; Hong Kong retains lead in cargo

Airports Council International (ACI) World’s busiest airport rankings for passengers for 2024 have included three from the Asia-Pacific - Tokyo Haneda retained fifth spot with 85.9 million passengers (up 9.1% from 2023), Delhi rose one spot to ninth with 77.8 million (up 7.8%) passengers and Shanghai Pudong climbed to 10th place last year with 76.8 million (up 41%). Read More » Atlanta was the busiest airport measured by passenger numbers in 2024 according to the ACI World data with 108.1 million passing through its terminals. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) retained its standing as the busiest cargo airport by volume with 4.9 million tonnes (up 14.1%) of air freight handled. “Amid global challenges, the resilience of the world’s busiest airports shines,” ACI World director general, Justin Erbacci, said. Airport Authority Hong Kong CEO, Vivian Cheung, said: “We are proud to be consistently named the world’s busiest cargo airport over the years. This is a great demonstration of our commitment in enhancing our cargo services by striving for innovation and seizing opportunities.”
