India reopens 32 airports after ceasefire agreed with Pakistan

Read More » Before the NOTAM was issued, the 32 airports had been ordered not resume operations until May 15. In a website statement Air India said it is “working towards progressively commencing flights to and from Amritsar, Bhuj, Chandigarh, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Leh, Rajkot and Srinagar. “We appreciate your understanding at this time as our teams work on bringing operations at these airports back to normal,” the airline said. IndiGo, India’s largest airline by passenger numbers, said: “As services gradually return to normal, there still may be a few delays and last minute adjustments. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams to restore seamless operations.” On May 11, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, which India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, has since described as “temporary”. The affected airports had been closed since May 9.
