Qantas Airways to boost trans-Tasman frequency in peak southern summer

Qantas Airways will add 60,000 seats on its flights between Australia and New Zealand in December and January 2026. Read More » Sydney-Auckland will increase to 41 flights a week, up from 35 a week and Melbourne-Auckland will be flown 35 times weekly compared with 28 rotations a week at present. The oneworld alliance member also will up gauge selected Brisbane-Auckland schedules to the 787-9 from the 737-800. The 787-9s will fly the route three times a week from August and be increased to daily rotations from October. “This year has seen huge growth in New Zealand for Qantas Group, from the announcement of two new Qantas routes to the refurbishment of our Auckland lounge that is well underway and the upcoming launch of three Jetstar trans-Tasman routes,” Qantas International CEO, Cam Wallace, said.
