Mixed fare data for Australian air travellers in latest month

Read More » The measure of restricted economy fares declined 28.9% or 23.6 index points, to 58.2 points and the business class measure was 17.4% lower at 50.8 points. However, potential travellers searching for the cheapest air tickets were likely disappointed. BITRE said the best discount measure for the fare category rose 4.5 index points (7.5%), to 64.6 points. “The series is a price index of the lowest available fare in each fare class weighted over selected routes,” BITRE said. “It does not measure real airline yields or average fares paid by passengers.”
