Malaysia Airports reports 8.4 million passengers travelled through its airports in May

Malaysia Airports has announced its passenger throughput increased by 9.1% in May from 7.7 million travellers a year ago. Read More » Domestic passengers processed at its Malaysia-wide airports increased 6.2%, to 4.3 million, and international passengers were higher by 2.5% at 4.1 million. Malaysia Airports managing director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said its airports had strengthened connectivity with China in the reported month with the launches of Sichuan Airlines Chengdu-Tianfu-Penang and Hainan Airlines Haokou Meilan-Kuala Lumpur. “These routes and airline entries are reflections of our efforts to strengthen bilateral connectivity and stimulate passenger growth,” Mohd Izani said. “China remains one of Malaysia’s top tourism and trade partners. We are pleased to support the expansion of flight operations between us. The new connections not only support inbound tourism ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 but enhance Malaysia’s standing as a key gateway in the region.”
