Kuala Lumpur International Airport opens second "calm room"

Malaysia’s leading airport has expanded its facilities for passengers with hidden disabilities including Autism and ADHD. Read More » Its second calm room, modelled on KLIA’s first calm room in Terminal 1, is a low stimulation space with quiet seating areas, calming audio and other aids to help passengers manage anxiety or sensory sensitivities. The calm rooms are part of Malaysia Airports’ The Butterfly Effect service, launched in 2021 for passengers with hidden disabilities. "We are committed to making inclusivity a standard across all our airports," Malaysia Airports managing director Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said. "The expansion of The Butterfly Effect reflects this commitment by offering barrier-free and supportive travel experiences for passengers with hidden disabilities. We are thankful for the continued support of our partners and ministries, whose expertise has been essential in helping create a more accessible and welcoming airport environment."
