The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) has said yes to a Malaysia Airlines (MAS)-Singapore Airlines (SIA) application to establish a metal-neutral joint venture on flights between Malaysia and Singapore. Read More » The airlines have committed to maintaining their weekly seat capacity, increasing seat capacity after meeting certain performance targets, reporting operations data for their LCC units - SIA’s Scoot and Malaysia Airlines Firefly - on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route and having an independent auditor monitor compliance of the undertakings. "The joint venture can lead to airlines coming together to offer better connectivity and options for consumers," CCCS CEO, Alvin Koh, said. "The proposed commitments offered by Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines allow flexibility to react to market developments and ensure more flights will be added on the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route as travel demand increases."
