Korean Air booked a double-digit net profit in latest quarter

Korean Air (KAL) delivered a net profit of 395.9 billion won (US$291.9 million) for the three months to June 30, up 13.4% from a net profit of 349 billion won in the same quarter in 2024. Read More » Revenue dipped 0.9% at 3.99 trillion won, KAL said in a regulatory filing. Operating profit was lower, falling 3.5% to 399 billion won in the reported period. Effective capacity management helped to keep revenue steady during the quarter, while gains from lower fuel prices were offset by higher operating costs, KAL said. "Looking ahead to the third quarter, the airline anticipates strong passenger demand entering the peak summer travel season and plans to maximize revenue through dynamic capacity management on key routes," the flag carrier said. "In the cargo business, it will continue to strengthen network flexibility and market responsiveness to ensure stable profitability amid uncertainty from ongoing changes in U.S. tariff policies."
