Shenzhen Airlines to open first route to Australia

Shenzhen Airlines has selected Melbourne as its inaugural Australian destination. Read More » The Star Alliance member, majority-owned by Air China, will fly three times a week Shenzhen-Melbourne Tullamarine from December 22 with A330-300s. "The new direct route marks a pivotal milestone in the Shenzhen Airlines global strategy of being a vital air bridge deepening ties between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Victoria," Shenzhen Airlines said. No airline operates nonstop Shenzhen-Melbourne at present. "This announcement is a significant milestone in Melbourne Airport’s international growth story as we continue to bring competition and choice to the market for our passengers," Melbourne Airport chief of aviation, Jim Parashos, said. Victoria’s government has supported the establishment of the route.
