Air Niugini joins A220 club

Read More » The first Air Niugini A220 features a livery celebrating the 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence. It arrived at Port Moresby today after a delivery flight from Mirabel in Canada via Vancouver, Honolulu and Nadi. The aircraft, registration P2-PGA, is on lease from Azorra. "This is more than just the arrival of a new aircraft," Air Niugini’s officer in charge and acting chief operating officer, Captain Samiu Taufa MBE, said. "It is the dawn of a new era for Air Niugini and Papua New Guinea. The A220 represents our commitment to safety, reliability and service excellence proudly carrying our flag into the future." Air Niugini has ordered eight A220-100s and three A220-300s with three A220s to have been inducted into the fleet by year-end. Seven of the airline’s pilots have completed A220 type rating training with 25 pilots qualified to fly the type by December.
