SIA Group records robust air travel demand in August

Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) flew 3.6 million passengers last month, up 9.4% from the 3.3 million passengers the group transported a year ago. Read More » Singapore Airlines passengers carried increased 6.9%, to 2.3 million guests, and LCC Scoot delivered a 14.2% upturn in its customers, to 1.3 million travellers flown in the month. "Demand for air travel for Singapore Airlines Group remained robust across all route regions in August 2025," SIA said in a regulatory filing. SIA Group passenger load factor was better by 2.3 percentage points, at 88%, in the reported 31 days and capacity expanded by 2.7% in the same period. SIA said "front-loading demand", where firms brought forward their freight shipments amid uncertainty about tariffs, eased in August. Cargo loads increased 0.5%, below a 2.3% increase in cargo capacity. As a consequence, SIA’s cargo load factor declined 0.9 of a percentage point to 5.2% in the month.
