IndiGo chooses Athens for first A321XLR route

At present, there are no nonstop Athens-India flights. But Greece-based Aegean Airlines intends to launch Athens-Delhi next March and Athens-Mumbai two months later. "IndiGo is proud to be the only Indian airline to announce direct flights between India and Greece – two ancient civilizations with a history of a long-standing relationship now deepened by modern day bilateral and economic ties," IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers, said. "This new aviation corridor is a strategic step in IndiGo’s international expansion and aligns perfectly with India’s growing economy and tourism industry." IndiGo has configured its A321XLR long-range narrow-bodies - part of a 300 aircraft order with Airbus announced in 2019 - with 12 premium IndiGo stretch seats and 183 economy seats.
