The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called on governments to issue letters of authorisation (LoA) to enable the release of Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) eligible emissions units (EEU) for purchase by airlines. "To unlock CORSIA’s climate finance potential and ensure its contribution to aviation’s decarbonization, states must authorize the release of EEUs," IATA assistant director of climate policy, Yue Huang, said during the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s 42nd assembly in Montreal. "That is one of our top messages to the 193 member states at the ICAO Assembly."

Japan Airlines (JAL) has started using shrink wrap made from biomass materials to secure its cargo loads at domestic airports in Japan. The biomass material is a byproduct of sustainable aviation fuel production. "JAL expects to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 50 tons annually with the use of these films," the airline said.

Commercial aerospace aftermarket company and Airbus subsidiary, Satair, has acquired an A319 from China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings for dismantling and harvesting of high-quality used serviceable materials to be distributed globally through its network in the end-of-life market. The deal also includes Satair’s Chengdu unit removing, preserving and storing of the aircraft’s two engines for CALC.

Malaysia Aviation Group, the holding company for Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, has signed a partnership agreement with Adobe, Google, Skyscanner and Visa to collaborate on digital products and innovations to improve the customer experience.
