Australia reports increase in international air travellers for July

Around 3.9 million passengers flew into and out of Australia in July, up 325,759, or 9.1%, from the 3.6 million international travellers recorded in the same month a year ago. Read More » Qantas Airways topped the table with 15.8% of international passengers transported, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 16.1% a year ago, Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said. In second place was Qantas Group LCC, Jetstar Airways. In contrast with Qantas Airways it increased its market share to 12.9% of all international passengers carried against 12% a year ago. Singapore Airlines (SIA) was Australia’s largest foreign carrier by passengers flown in the month, at 8.9%, followed by Emirates Airline (6.4%) and Air New Zealand (6.1%). SIA topped the monthly table for international freight with 17.2% of the market ahead of Qantas (9.9%) and Cathay Pacific (7%).
