SIA Group reports higher load factor in September as demand outpaced capacity growth

Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) flew 3.4 million passengers last month, up 8% from the 3.1 million passengers it transported in the same month a year ago. Read More » At Singapore Airlines, passengers carried increased 4.4%, to 2.2 million, and its LCC, Scoot, posted 15.5% growth in the reported month to 1.2 million travellers flown. SIA Group said demand, or revenue passenger kilometres, increased 3.7% but capacity only expanded 2.5%. "As a result, the group’s passenger load factor increased by 1.0 percentage point year-on-year to 87.1%," SIA said. The airline group’s cargo unit reported capacity contracted 0.8% and loads were 3.8% lower in the 30 days. "Typhoon Ragasa had an impact on the cargo business during the month, particularly on routes to and from East Asia," SIA Group said.
