Jetstar, Qantas Airways match each other for on-time performance in September

Jetstar and Qantas Airways were separated by six-tenths of a percentage point in terms of on-time arrivals in September. Read More » Qantas topped the list with 79.8% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of their schedule last month, with its LCC unit, Jetstar, just behind on 79.3%. Among the other major airlines, Virgin Australia (VA) was further back at 76.9%, followed by Rex Airlines at 74.6%. Qantas also led all airlines for on-time departures at 81.1% of flights pushing back from the gate within 15 minutes of their published schedule, ahead of Jetstar (78.3%), VA (78%) and Rex (77%). The data for the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics is gathered from Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and records from pilots, gate agents and/or ground crews.
