China Airlines plans to increase number of flights to New York, London and Prague

CAL chairman Kao Shing-hwang said the Taiwan-U.S. air traffic has already increased by about 30% in recent years, reinforcing Taiwan’s role as a regional transit hub, and will remain CAL’s key focus next year, during which CAL plans to increase flights to New York based on market demand. CAL President Kevin Chen said that in 2026, CAL will take delivery of five to seven Boeing 787s 2026 and continue introducing A321neo aircraft to enhance network flexibility. Flights to London will soon be increased to five per week, while the Prague route will be expanded to three weekly flights starting in April next year, Chen said. As for Asia, the Chiang Mai route has already been increased to daily direct flights, and the Tokyo Narita route will be expanded from three weekly flights to daily operations. CAL will also evaluate potential new destinations in North America and Northeast Asia, Chen added. In October 2025, CAL flew 1 million passengers, 11.8% more than during the same month in 2024. The capacity (ASK) increased 0.9%, and the demand (RPK) increased 6.5% during the month. The load factor increased 4.2ppt to 79.7%.
