China Eastern Airlines posted 5.9% increase in passengers flown last month

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flew 13 million passengers in October, a near 6% improvement from the 12.3 million customers the Shanghai-headquartered carrier transported a year earlier. Read More » The increase was underpinned by a 21.9% increase in international passengers to 1.8 million, as well as the 3.7% rise in domestic passengers to 10.9 million. CEA also posted growth on its regional network, with passenger numbers up 5.2% at 335,110. The airline added 6.8% capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, year-on-year in October, and passenger load factor was higher by 3 percentage points at 87.5%. At the end of October, CEA had a fleet of 822 aircraft, compared with 820 at September 30.
