THAI adopts "per piece" model for baggage allowance

Read More » The change came into effect late last week for tickets sold for travel from March 2 next year. Under the scheme, domestic travellers within Thailand will be allowed one piece of checkin luggage weighing not more than 32 kilograms for business and 23 kilograms for economy passengers. For international flights, first class passengers will be allowed to check in three bags, those in business and premium economy class two and economy either one or two bags depending on the type of fare. The Star Alliance member said the policy change was to "improve convenience and consistency for international connections and interline travel", provide passengers with clear and transparent baggage entitlements and align its policies with leading global airlines. "Thai Airways remains committed to elevating our service standards to deliver a seamless and memorable travel experience for all passengers," THAI said.
