AirAsia has given its female cabin crew the option of wearing the hijab while on duty as part of an update of the airline group’s uniform policy. The hijab has already been part of the uniform for flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia due to local regulations. "Our uniforms have always reflected professionalism, safety and comfort, and this evolution builds on that foundation by giving our people the confidence to represent AirAsia in ways that align with their beliefs," AirAsia Aviation Group CEO, Bo Lingam, said.
The Airports of Thailand (AOT) board has chosen to amend the duty-free concession contract with King Power Duty Free Company at five airports in Thailand rather than terminate the contract and commence a fresh bidding process. "The contract amendment approach will be more beneficial to AOT than terminating the contract and initiating a new bidding process," AOT said in a regulatory filing. "In the event of contract termination, AOT will lose revenue from concession fees until a new concessionaire is appointed, which is expected to take no less than 14 months." The five airports are Bangkok Don Mueang, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Phuket.
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) secretary general, Juan Carlos Salazar, reaffirmed the body’s priority for improving safety and lowering emissions on International Civil Aviation Day, yesterday (December 7). "Air transport for everyone by 2050, with zero fatalities and net-zero carbon emissions - this is ICAO’s vision for the future of aviation," Salazar said.
Japan-headquartered aircraft interiors company, Jamco Corporation will acquire Italy-based Iacobucci HF Aerospace, a supplier of commercial aviation galley products, with the transaction expected to close at the end of this year. The terms of the deal, which involves Jamco purchasing 100% of Iacobucci’s shares via a special purpose vehicle, were not disclosed.
RECARO Aircraft Seating said the company was on track to post double-digit growth in revenue in 2025 from the 576 million euro (US$671 million) achieved in calendar 2024.
United Airlines has selected Travelport to support its development and rollout of new distribution capability content via global distribution systems.
