IndiGo cancelled more than 1,000 flights, representing half its scheduled services, on Friday due to what the LCC described as severe operational disruptions. A further 850 cancellations followed on Saturday and there were hundreds more yesterday (December 7). IndiGo said it expected to stabilise its network by Wednesday, bringing forward its previous estimate of December 15 by five days. "Our teams are working relentlessly to stabilize operations, and our primary focus remains on providing an enhanced travel experience for our customers," IndiGo said. "We are making very significant progress in restoring our flight schedules and strengthening our customer support systems." The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) in India has used its regulatory powers to introduce price caps on affected routes, which will stay in place until it is satisfied the situation has stabilised. "The objective of this directive is to maintain pricing discipline in the market, prevent any exploitation of passengers in distress, and ensure that citizens who urgently need to travel - including senior citizens, students, and patients - are not subjected to financial hardship during this period," the MOCA said.
