Virgin Australia to restore Sydney-Darwin after two-year hiatus

Read More » The airline will operate up to seven flights a week between the two cities from June 22, 2026 to January 10 2027 with daytime schedules in both directions. After a two-month pause, flights will return in March 2027 to align with market demand. VA suspended flights between Sydney and Darwin in 2023 following a network review. "Our return to the route will enhance travel options for passengers, drive competition and reinforce the vital connections between metropolitan centres and regional Australia with Darwin serving as a key gateway," VA chief strategy and transformation officer, Alistair Hartley said. "It will provide greater flexibility for corporate travellers moving between the two cities."
