China Southern Airlines dips below 14 million air passengers in January

China Southern Airlines (CSA) said passengers carried fell 5.8% to 13.99 million in January, from the 14.85 million air travellers in the same month a year ago. Read More » The decline was due to a 7.8% year-on-year reduction in domestic passengers to 11.88 million in the month. An 8% lift in international passengers to 1.95 million and half of a percentage point improvement in regional travellers to 153,700 helped offset some of the drop in the Guangzhou-headquartered carrier’s domestic passengers. Passenger load factor fell 1.5 percentage points to 83.3% and capacity was cut by 1.1% year-on-year. At January 31, CSA had 971 aircraft in its fleet, down one from 972 on December 31 last year.
