Read More » The inclusion of a first class cabin on the Boeing narrowbody is one of several service initiatives JAL announced yesterday (March 23) for its domestic flight operations under the "New Angles, New Stories" concept. The oneworld alliance member said it expected to receive the first of 38 737 MAX 8 aircraft it has on order during the 12 months to March 31 2027, with the type to commence commercial operations some time in the following fiscal year. Currently, JAL only offers domestic first class on its widebody A350-900, 787-8 and 767-300ER fleet, while the 737-800s used on domestic routes have two cabin classes - the domestic business class marketed as Class J and economy. Other changes include the renaming of its Diamond Premier domestic lounges at Fukuoka, Okinawa Naha, Osaka Itami, Sapporo New Chitose and Tokyo Haneda to the JAL First Class lounge. JAL said renovations of its domestic lounges at the North Wing of Haneda Airport were due to be complete during the northern hemisphere autumn. The airline is also introducing bento-style meals for passengers flying in domestic first class and launching a revamp of its digital app. "As a partner that stands by its customers and society, the JAL Group remains committed to fostering meaningful connections across every touchpoint, including those throughout the travel journey and across everyday life," JAL said.
