Philippine Airlines (PAL) has cancelled all flights to Saipan from its Manila hub until June 18, citing ongoing runway repair works at the airport following the recent Typhoon Sinlaku. Read More » While the airport has reopened after the Typhoon passed over the island last week, the Commonwealth Ports Authority has restricted operations to rescue flights only until at least April 22, with flights only able to takeoff and land during the day because of damage to navigational aids, local media reported. The airport was also relying on generator power and had no running water. Rescue flights included service operated by United Airlines from Tokyo Narita and Guam, T’Way from Seoul Incheon and Hong Kong Airlines from Hong Kong. PAL is offering impacted passengers the option to rebook their flights, receive a refund or travel credit, or fly to Guam instead. "We will coordinate closely with the airport authorities to determine when the airport runway repairs will be completed and ready for the safe resumption of commercial flights," PAL said.
