Airport Authority of Hong Kong (AAHK) has signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) with Almaty International Airport in Kazakhstan and Fly Khiva Group in Uzbekistan. Under the MOU with Almaty International Airport, both parties agreed to collaborate on enhancing air connectivity, airport management, sustainable development, and talent development. The MOU with Fly Khiva Group covered building passenger and cargo connectivity, advancing operational excellence and service enhancement and sustainable development. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has also signed a bilateral air services agreement with Uzbekistan.
China Southern Air Logistics and FedEx have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation opportunities on international flight and hub connectivity, network planning, fleet resources, ground operations and digitalisation.
Japan Airlines has broken ground on a new workshop at Tokyo Haneda Airport focused on aircraft landing gear maintenance. The facility is expected to be completed by December next year. The maintenance work will be undertaken by subsidiary JAL Engineering Co.
Safran Aircraft Engines and SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) have signed a joint-venture (JV) agreement to set up a workshop in Singapore to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services on the CFM LEAP engine type. The agreement followed a letter of intent the pair signed in November last year and builds on SIAEC’s engine maintenance services agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines signed in 2019. Safran will hold 51% of the JV, with SIAEC owning 49%.
