Air China posts 6.5% drop in passengers during May

Air China flew 12.5 million passengers in May, down about 900,000 from the 13.4 million travellers it carried in the same month in 2025. Read More » The decline during the reported 31 days was due to the 7.7% fall in domestic passengers to 10.6 million and 2.3% reduction in regional network flyers to 381,400. On a more positive note, Air China’s international travellers rose 1.2% to 1.5 million. The Star Alliance member reduced capacity 6.4% year-on-year in May, while demand, or revenue passenger kilometres, was down 6.4%. Passenger load factor was up 3.2 percentage points at 84.5%. Air China’s fleet stood at 971 aircraft on May 31, an increase of six from the end of April.
