Guangzhou Airport head next to go in Mainland corruption scandal

Xu Xiangdong, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, has been relieved of his duties after being investigated for "serious violations of discipline”, a euphemism for corruption on the Mainland, according to a statement posted on the website of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the People's Government of Guangdong Province. In late September, the anti-graft watchdog said it was investigating Liu Zijing, a former president of Guangzhou Airport Authority for "suspected serious violations of discipline”, following the resignation earlier this year of former Beijing Capital Airport general manager, Shi Boli, on corruption charges.
With his arrest, Xu joins the ranks of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) deputy head, Zhou Laizhen, director of the CAAC’s Operation Management Center, Wang Liya, former deputy general manager of China Southern Airlines, Liu Xian, as well as the carrier’s chairman, Si Xianmin.
