10 years after its debut COMAC C909 jet operates 70% of China’s regional jet routes

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) said it has delivered 186 C909 regional jets to more than 10 customers in the decade since the plane made its maiden commercial flight. Read More » During the press conference on June 28, 2026, marking 10 years since the first delivery of the ARJ21, later renamed the C909, COMAC said the plane has transported over 37 million passengers and now accounts for 70% of China’s regional jet fleet. The active C909 planes run on more than 860 routes covering over 180 cities, with an average of 500 flights a day. Around 70 C909 aircraft are now deployed in the Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions as well as Heilongjiang province, where they operate more than 460 routes. C909 currently serves 25 overseas routes connecting 28 cities in countries including Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam, carrying more than 1 million passengers annually outside China.
The C909 operators in China are: Chengdu Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Jiangxi Air, Genghis Khan Airlines, China Express Airlines, Colourful Guizhou Airlines, and Urumqi Air. Outside the country, the aircraft is used by Indonesia’s TransNusa, Lao Airlines, and Vietnam’s VietJet.
