Air India receives third "line-fit" 787-9

Air India has taken delivery of the third 787-9 line-fit with the airline’s latest cabin products during assembly at Boeing’s production line in Charleston in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Read More » The aircraft, registration VT-AWC, touched down at Delhi just before 2300 local time on Saturday 4 July, following its 17-hour ferry flight from Charleston. It was expected to enter commercial service on Thursday as the AI2027 from Delhi to Frankfurt. "A growing fleet. A continued transformation," Air India said in a post on social media. "With every new addition, we continue to strengthen our commitment to delivering a more modern, consistent and world-class travel experience for our guests." The aircraft features 30 Elevate Ascent business class seats, 28 premium economy seats in a seven-abreast configuration and 238 economy seats in a 3-3-3 layout. Both economy and premium economy seats are from Recaro, while the in-flight entertainment system is from Thales. The rest of Air India’s widebody fleet is being progressively retrofitted with upgraded cabin interiors and entertainment system.
