Japan Airlines posts weaker passenger numbers for August

Japan Airlines (JAL) reported passengers carried on its domestic operations fell 3.8% to 3.4 million in August, from 3.6 million in the same month in 2025. Read More » Domestic capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK) was 2.9% lower for the month, while revenue passenger kilometres, a measure of demand, fell 4.8%. Domestic passenger load factor slipped 1.7 percentage points to 87.1%. It was a similar story on the oneworld alliance member’s international network, with the number of air travellers dropping below 700,000 following a 6.3% decline in the month to 657,187. JAL’s international capacity fell 2.5%, while demand was 8.1% lower. International passenger load factor slid 4.9 percentage points to 81.2%.
