China Southern Airlines tops 17 million passengers in August

China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew 17.3 million passengers on its domestic, international and regional flights in August, up 2.7% from 16.9 million in the same month a year ago. Read More » The increase was led by CSA’s international flying, which achieved 9% growth to 2.1 million passengers in the month. The domestic operations had 2% more passengers at 15.1 million. However, CSA’s regional unit carried 0.7% fewer passengers year-on-year at 175,800. Passenger load factor rose 1.4 percentage points to 88.9% as capacity grew 3.6% and demand, or revenue passenger kilometres, climbed 4.8%. During August, CSA inducted five passenger aircraft while withdrawing two from the fleet, lifting its fleet by three to 977 by the end of the month, compared with July 31.
