China Eastern Airlines passenger numbers rise about half a million to 14.9 million in August

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flew 14.9 million passengers in August, up 3.1% from 14.4 million carried in the same month in 2025. Read More » The improvement was achieved across all parts of CEA’s network - domestic passengers rose 3.3% to 12.5 million, international passengers were 2.2% higher at 2 million and regional air travellers increased 2.9% to 367,800. The SkyTeam alliance member expanded passenger capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, 5.2% in the month while revenue passenger kilometres grew by 6.7%. Passenger load factor rose 1.3 percentage points to 89.6%. CEA added two A320s and retired two A320s in August to leave the fleet size unchanged from the end of July at 833 aircraft.
